HAHAHAHAHAHAAHA, yes really complicated. Takes approx 10 seconds to prepare and about 4 mins to make. Seriously, you use the word complicated. Are you kidding, or are you insane?

It's NOT a percolator. Perked coffee uses hot water (not boiling water) to perk coffee, The hot water rises through the pump (stem) and drips DOWN through the coffee grinds. You are using "steam" process. You are forcing the steam UP through the coffee grinds to make the coffee. There is a huge difference between the methods. Not to mention, a complete different cup of coffee from each. BTW the best espresso is from the machine you are using. Best perked coffee is with a glass Pyrex percolator.

You don't want to tamp down the coffee, just level it off. If you tamp it down in this form of stovetop coffee maker, you will not get a complete brew, and water will remain in the reservoir instead of brewing.
Also, I may have missed it, but you may want to let your audience know that the pot should be placed over medium to low heat, depending on the stove (weak flames would obviously need to be on high).

@FredB127 Gourmet says nothing about price. 🙂 Only about a sense of luxury. The term is kinda vague though. IMHO, something is gourmet if more effort is required and the expected results are above mainstream.

you can use these percolators for reg coffee as well – he's right, way better than those paper-filter things. And you dont need a bag for the filter, the filter is that first part he took off (small thing with the holes in it).
